Hosea 10:12 – “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” (KJV)
I saw this verse this morning and it interested me. There are so many parts to talk about here.
Sow to yourselves in righteousness – Get busy doing what is right. When we accepted Jesus as our Savior, He put within us the Holy Spirit to guide us in right and wrong. So, we have within us the necessary equipment to do righteousness. It is just do we choose to listen to it? If His guidance doesn’t fit in our little box, we want to ignore it, pretend It isn’t there. My garden doesn’t grow if I ignore it. It doesn’t produce if I don’t plant. Same thing is true with my spiritual life.
Reap in mercy – If you do what is right, guess what happens? Blessings. God is just waiting to shower down blessings upon us, but we get in the way with our unwilling heart and hinder His blessings upon us. So sad.
Break up your fallow ground – Quit being unproductive! Repent of this wrong and move on. The ground of our heart has become hard. We are no longer sensitive to the needs of others. We need to break things up and change. We need to allow God to break our hearts for the needs of others – especially their spiritual needs.
Seek the LORD – Look for Jehovah. Seek Him out. I guarantee you will find Him.
And how long are we to do all of this? Until He comes to take us home. The time is quickly approaching, princess. Don’t be deceived into thinking that you have some time. You don’t. Get moving. Get growing. Get to finding out what and how God wants you to serve.
