Proverbs 19:14 – “Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.”
There are some things in life that you just can’t buy – like a good wife. How does that make you feel? Me, humbled and a bit scared. What if I’m not that good wife? What if my outspoken nature messes things up? What if in my desire to do something good I mess it all up?
Do you know what prudent means? It means knowing what to say or do and when to say or do it. Um, most times, that is not me. I’m working on it with help from above. But left to my own devices, disaster!
Solomon says here that this prudent wife is from The Lord. This is the kind of wife I strive to be on an hourly basis. I say hourly because I think that daily leaves too much room for error.
Husbands should not have to worry that their wife is out blabbing her mouth (and consequently, the opposite is true as well). As followers of Christ, princess, it is our duty to strive to be that prudent wife.
Now, don’t get all stressed out. You will fail. But my dear, that is what grace and mercy is all about. Ask The Lord to help you in this endeavor. Let Him lead you down this path. Don’t go at it alone. The Lord will provide all you need to be successful.
