The Bible

James 1:22-25 – “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it – he will be blessed in what he does.”
I was looking at my father-in-law’s Bible this weekend. It has seen some joyful times and some difficult times. But, no matter the circumstances in life, this Book has every answer to every problem that my father-in-law has faced – and you can tell he relies upon it heavily.
It is the first day of the new year. Go get your Bible. What is its condition? Have you utilized it in the last year or has it been in stand-by?
My challenge for you, princess, is to wear out your Bible this year! Use it so much that next Christmas people will think you need a new one – but don’t let them buy it. A well worn Bible is a testimony to God’s faithfulness in your life.
Use your Bible as the mirror in which you see your soul – the very depth of who you are. Let the Word change you into who He wants you to be.
