Psalm 25:4-5 – “Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”
It is 5:30 in the morning here and it is very dark. They say that the darkest time of night is just before the dawn.
Princess, we are in the darkest part of night in our world. The Son is getting ready to pop over the horizon and take us home.
It has been a long way home too. Followers of Christ have been looking and hoping for His return for centuries. We are blessed to live in a time where we are getting very close. It is a scary time as well. We have a record of what will happen but so many opinions on how it will happen. I don’t want to hash out theology, so let’s just agree that it is getting close and it will not be a bed of roses. (By the way, I have never understood that phrase. How can of bed of roses be easy with all those thorns?) Anyway….
Hope. We have a hope, as a child of the King, that no one else has. We have the hope that He is coming back to get us and that He will walk with us down His path until He comes. How cool is that?
And even though everything around us is in the dark, we walk in the Light. The Son has dawned in our life and we walk down the long road home.
But we mess up. We stray off the path sometimes. We fall down when we don’t watch where we are going. That is why He is there. To show, guide and teach us how to follow Him.
If you can, princess, I want you to get up early tomorrow and watch the sun rise. Not only is it a beautiful sight, but let it remind you that hope is rising. And it is rising up in you.
We have hope. That is the biggest difference. There is a promise we will be cared for and invited home when our mortal life ends. Knowing that makes face each day with the knowledge we have the ultimate back up plan.
